Charles S. Deneen (Edwardsville, IL 1863-1940 Chicago, IL) graduated from Northwestern School of Law and McKendree University.  He was a member of the Union League Club and had served as Governor of Illinois 1905-1913 and later as United States Illinois Senator.

Among his many achievements in life, he was the lead prosecutor in Chicago's infamous Adolph Luetgert murder trial as well as a supporter of anti-lynching laws.
